The Insurance Policy You Need for Boating Accidents

The Insurance Policy You Need for Boating Accidents

In this beautiful community in which we live where we are surrounded by water, many people own boats or wave runners to enjoy this area.  However, many of them rely upon their homeowner’s policy to cover them in a boating accident.  They do not but a separate policy, a boating policy, to protect them. We highly recommend you do so.  It’s going to provide you similar coverages that you can buy on an auto policy such as bodily injury liability coverage that will protect you and your assets from attack if you cause injury to somebody else’s person with your boat or watercraft.  There’s also property damage liability coverage which pays for somebody else’s property that you damage in a watercraft accident.

More importantly and probably the most important coverage you can buy is uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. That’s going to cover you, your family members and people on your watercraft who are injured by somebody who’s underinsured for your bodily injuries. There’s also comprehensive and collision coverage as we can buy on our auto and there’s medical payments coverage too. There’s also some coverages that you can buy that aren’t offered on an auto policy such as personal possession coverage which will cover scuba diving equipment, fishing gear, things of that nature that you find particular to a boat.

If you have any questions concerning boating coverage, call your agent. And if you’re ever involved in a boating accident, please call our office. We’re gladly there to help you.  My name
